This scope rail works really nicely if you have a stock on your marker and can't get close enough to the top of the gun to use stock sights. The only problem on the a-5 is that the hopper is still in the way but this can be fixed by modifying the hopper. A jt flex mask also works great with this product. Go buy one of these and you won't be disappointed.
Conclusion:
This is a great product with no apparent weaknesses. I'm happy that I decided to purchase this and it seems sturdy so I'll probably be happy about the purchase for years to come.

The Sight Rail works how it should (just sits on top of the dovetail mounting rail). It gives you a lil added height just to mount a scope on, or to use as a carry handle. (I can only fit 3 out of 4 fingers inside the handle). IT also has a hole in it you could put a lanyard through (might hang loose & interfere with the gun though).
Conclusion:
Good if you can find a way to get rid of the hopper & mount a scope or laser dot sight/laser dot. Gets an 8 for a lil too small for my hands, & still will interfere with line of sight by hopper.

I only purchased this item as a throw in to get free shipping. I value performance over looks, this piece is definately more about looks than perfomance. It does look good on the A-5, it provides a sturdy carrying handle and also provides a raised sight line for those who use stocks.
It is a little too expensive for such a small piece of metal. Also, the stock hopper blocks the sight line with this sight, maybe the Rico R-5 hopper, when it comes out, would help. This sight also makes taking apart the A-5 more difficult.
I would also recomend peplacing the s/s slotted screws with black hex bolts from your local hardware store.
Conclusion:
If you value looks and mil-sim, you will love this sight rail. But, those who value performance maybe a little disappointed.
