I've used Brass Eagle Paintballs, as well as Viper Venom paintballs. Needless to say, both are better than Nelson Hot Spot paintballs.
Marker Setup:
Spyder Shutter w/ ESP frame, 12" OTP barrel and a 12v revvy. 12 ounce CO2. Screw on elbow.
Recommended Barrels:
any, i guess. The one i use is a 12" OTP barrel, and it works just fine.
Strengths:
The good thing about Nelson Hot Spot Paintballs is that they have a very low breakage level. I haven't broke one yet (I've shot about 1000 now). They are also very accurate. They brake well. That's about it.
Weaknesses:
The Paintballs have a very thin fill, and dont show up well (this goes for the purple ones w/ the blue fill). The range on these paintballs sucks badly. You have to aim up to shoot farther than 100 ft, so accuracy is pretty useless in a grove. I guess this doesnt matter if you play in a speedball field, but if you play in open fields or groves, they suck.
Conclusion:
It is good paint that costs very little. I, myself, would only use it to practice with, or to shoot in a speedball field. I would recommend something like Brass Eagle or Viper Venom, you know something w/ range.
Mostly Nelson and RPS paints. I've used many, many paints over the years, those are the ones in this category.
Marker Setup:
Free Flow Cocker, Blue/chrome set up. 2 boomsticks 12" (.684 and .690) 68 Mac Dev, Chrome 45 frame with Roller Sear, Shocktech Bolt, 12v revy w/ x-board and JMJ vortex impeller
Recommended Barrels:
both my boomsticks work incredibly well with this. I haven't used it enough to actually say which bore size is better.
Strengths:
paint seemed heavy and shot far. Wasn't too brittle, but it broke every time for me, but I haven't used it enough for any real problems to occur. My Free Flow works great with this. I noticed this paint was really accurate with my .684 and I was picking off people all day. My store owner just got some in and gave me a great price to try it, I was happy.
Weaknesses:
paint came in two 1000 bags making loading a pain in the ass. I did spill a few balls at first before I hand loaded the paint. Also, I found one ball in the bag broken. I know this is can be normal, but it counts against the score.
Conclusion:
Great paint, nice and heavy so it flys far. Really accurate with my .684 boomy, but it could get more with a better bore size. Get a freak set on these bad boys and find out. I would really reccommend you try them out if you have a choice. I like Anarchy better, but these were a great change. And a great price. If you don't mind the pain in the ass loading, they are a great deal. I gave them a 9 because of some minor blemishes. Nothing is perfect.
