The Universal Sportz-Comm™ Kit is bending the airwaves! Our audio communication system has been made for an after market application that fits any, and all of our JT® goggle systems (excludes Proteus™). Just plug in your personal FRS recreational 2-way radio and bingo!, your goggle system has become a completely hands free 2-way radio “VOX”. Whether your caught up in the latest scenario game for the weekend or just reffing for the day, this communication system is designed to handle multiple users! Our system is so advance you can plug in your mp3™ player, i-pod™ or CD player too! Warm up for your game or cool down with your goggles on and your favorite tunes jamming away inside... what could be better?
The JT Universal Sportz Comm is older, so while it may be available used and in a few cases new, it is not commonly available anymore.
Hands free use, can still hear when not receiving communications (no earbud blocking ear), light
Doesn't work with all walkie-talkies.
I thought the comm system was busted when I first used it and it would recieve ok, but my voice was barely audible to my buddies. Plus, the mic would start broadcasting then wouldn't shut off. Effectively jamming my teams comm system. I then read a review about how you need a walkie-talkie with VOX and a sensitivity adjustment. I found a set (that cost a little more than my first set) at Wal-mart. Cobra Micro-talk for about $40. Now my set-up works like its supposed to...
Great product if you match it up with the right walkie-talkies.
Install easilly, concealed within the mask, allow you to communicate easilly, and quietly.
VR sencitivity. Doesn't work. We have to use it like a 2 way.
Me and my buddy are really into paintball, whether it be speedball, or bush ball. We got these to help us communicate in the bush. They installed without problem, and they conceal nicely within the mask, and under the goggle strap, so no worries of paintballs hitting the equipment, and damaging it or covering it with paint. Which is nice. The bad thing though, is the VR sencitivity. You're supposed to make a noise moments before you talk to activate it. But they're so sencitive. That once it's activated, it doesn't turn off. It stays on, allowing you to communicate with your buddy, but not him to you. So we ended up having to use them just like radios. Click when you wanna talk, release when you're done. They work just fine like that, but defeats the hole hands free idea, which is what they went for. It might just be the radio's we have them plugged into, but this is how they function for us. I love being able to communicate quietly and clearly with my buddy while 50 feet away from him, and conjuring up strategies to tag the last few guys. Very sneaky. ;) I like 'em, though they don't work like they're supposed to.
All in all, a neat thing to get. They're only for JT masks, and DO NOT fit in the Proteus, which is a negative. But all in all, very cool.
never need to take it out. It is never in the way and very confined.
Only certain 2-ways Vox will work with it. .
All and all it is a great Peace to have. especially if you are the military in the woods sneaky sneaky type. The less movement by your hands the less chance of somebody seeing me after they have been shot. I use a Motorola talk-about T5710 2-way radio and it is perfect , the radio has a key lock so if you bump it, it will now change stations and you can adjust the VOX sensitivity on it.
All and all it is a great invention and a must have in my opinion.
Many different types of 2 way radios, Motorola, Cobra, Two Wire
Spyder Flash - Well The Body & Frame are still original.
Mounts in mask.
No duct tape McGuyvering involved
VOX doesn't work
Not a bad solution, However VOX doesn't work - Refs could use the VOX (Voice Activation) Feature but players can't use the VOX feature.
Everytime you shoot your marker the microphone turns on - if your team is using VOX all you end up hearing is Marker fire - instead of the conversation.
This problem doesn't happen when you're reffing - 'cause you don't have a marker.
An earbud and remote PTT (Push To Talk) button is a better solution. It may not be as comfortable - or as cool - but it's cheaper, and actually works. I'd like to see one of these Mask Comm systems with a glove and a PTT button sewn into the thumb.
