So you want a pant that can withstand the blast of a forty ton ballistic missle huh? Or maybe just a pant that will hold up to the rigors of a torturous tournament season? Well look no further. The 2004 Proto pant can last through this season and the next, and the next. With as many features and as much style as we have packed into this pant, you may wear it for the rest of your life.
Product Availability
The Proto Pants are older, so while they may be available used and in a few cases new, they are not commonly available anymore.

Strengths: Duriable, big pockets with flaps (i'll explain later)
Weaknesses: no knee padding and little padding anywhere else other than crotch
Review: These pants do the job for the adverage Speedballer with the exceptrion of knee and shin padding but thats what knee pads are for. they have a cargo pocket for stuff like barrel condoms, and they have two side pockets, they also have a slot of your right leg for a squegee. They're extremely ajustiable so you won't have to worry about them sliding around while playing. and it breathes nicely. now for my story about the pockets with flaps. I was playing at my local field one day and I had just got my new proto pants ^^ I think it looked goofy on my cuz I was wearing camo too...but meh and I was playing Air ball and someone shot me in my pocket in the flaps...and the paintball bounced off the slide pocket flaps and into my pocket but the 3rd one hit my knee and I was out. so ^^ I just thought It was funny that I got a bounce into my pocket . oh and theres the cool proto logo stitched on the lower part of the leg so that looks pretty spiffy
Conclusion: great pants, plenty of ventalation and a padded crotch . lots of pockets...great pants I'm giving them a 9/10 cuz they could be a little less expensive...but I got mine on sale ^^ $57 at my local pro-shop. but I think for the same price you could have gotten last year's style hybrid pants cuz they have more padding and everyone knows more padding= more bounces =D

Marker Setup: Irrelevant to pants and this review
Strengths: Fit, padding in crotch, looks, pockets, breaths well, adjustable.
Weaknesses: No knee padding, can tear if you slide on indoor carpet.
Review: I got these pants the other day and all I can say is that they fit nicely. They adjust very easily and very nicely.

Breakdown:

Looks: They look exactly like Dye(go figure they are made by them). Has PROTO down the sides of the legs.

Fit: Already said above they fit good and the fit is very adjustible.
There are ankle cuffs incase you want to pull them tighter around the bottom of your legs.

Padding: Has crotch adding. I can't thank them enough for putting this on there. However there is no knee padding, so you will want to invest into knee pads.

Vents: It breaths very well. I wore these to school and my legs were never hot. The vents are perfect, don't get cold and don't overheat.

Pockets: There are two BIG cargo pockets which are nice for carrying things or whatever onto the field. There is also two big side pockets like normal jeans. These pockets are very deep so you can again hold whatever items you may need. There is a last pocket if you will on the right leg for a squeegie or a straight shot.

Durability: They can and will tear if you slide on indoor carpetting. First it melts on the knees then later it just completely burns through. While this could be a downside, I didn't mind it much, but outdoors they last forever!

Conclusion: Great buy, cheaper than the 03 and 04 hybrids but are virtually the same. While some might want to buy knee pads. If you have knee pads on that are soft it takes longer for them to burn through. While the knees may not be as durable as I may want, that's just me being picky.

Awesome looks
Good Quality
Good design
Awesome blue color, never fades
Weaknesses: Just a shell, extremely ventilated, and very cold.
Review: These pants are great. They look really good, are engineered very well, and are overall an awesome pair of pants. The cargo pockets are good because the fluffy swab holder is a closed unit unlike on the JTs, which makes it very easy to pull out the fluffy whenever you need it. Has a back pocket, unlike the JTs, which is very nice. The padded flap over the fly makes me feel much safer about getting shot in the family jewels. A good pair of paintball pants.
Conclusion: Buy this if you live in a warmer climate or have long johns to wear under them. I live in the pacific northwest and long johns are a necessity with these pants in every season besides summer.

Strengths: SEE review
Weaknesses: Price for some I think 64 wasnt bad...
Review: The good-The colors are great, theres gray, blue, and red. They're made by Dye which is a +. Good material... was dissapointed when i tried them on sounded like being in a plastic bag, but also my first pair of pb pants. But i got use to them, i got XL so i can use them for a few years and still have them fit. The XL fits 36-40 according to tag, but probably can fit 42...
Their baggy so not gonna have all those breaks, good air flow going through them. Really good manuverability with these, stretch alot, and having adjustable cuffs to stay to your ankles so your not walking on them and all the other nice features I like that they dont fade after being washed. (not suppose to be machine dried, but yet my mom put them in the dryer 2 times now, probably fall apart but i dont care ill sew them back up :-p i love these pants.

Havnt found anything really bad except for price may be a problem for some. May be a problem, but after 2 days of paintball the blue stitching on my left knee was completely gone, and half of it on the left knee is gone, but doesnt bother me, that just shows they've been used and have taken the abuse.

Update: A couple months ago the 1 corner on my left side pocket finally ripped, this is the first rip ive had on these pants. and i wear them atleast once a week to school or when i go out.
Conclusion: I feel like i can fly in these things, light, baggy, great color (i got blue),durable, good air flow. Made by Dye, I love these things to death and im sure you will too. Go and try these out or just buy them, you've gotta love em 10 at the moment, nothing wrong with these glad i got them
