The all new Speedline one piece barrel offers the same quality construction as the original Speedline but in a more affordable package. Precision drilled and multi-step micro honed, the Speedline one piece is the most accurate single bore barrel available. Featuring Powerlyte's patented side by side porting, each shot is air transfer stabalized while having a whisper quiet sound signature. Available for Cockers, Spyders and Tippman Model 98's.
The Powerlyte 1-Piece Aluminum Speedline Barrel is newer, so it should be commonly available, both new and used.
Aluminum Double Trigger & Grip Frame (can't remember who makes it)
68/4500 nitro tank
I also own a 98c, 68-carbine, SL68II, and a PT Xtreme.
Anything with roughly a 0.689 bore should work nicely. I used PCS Combat 68 or something like that. I've never heard of it before this weekend but it was similar to PMI Premium. Worked very well with this barrel and it was only $60/case.
-No o-ring included
-Slightly small bore size, if you consider that bad
Excellent barrel. I was just randomly checking out some paintball stuff online one night and came across this barrel. I found it for only $30 and saw a lot of good reviews so I thought I'd give it a shot. I ordered it a while ago and finally got the chance to test it out over the weekend. I was very impressed with the quality of the barrel. The internal finish is nice and smooth and the outside has a nice design. I put it on my gun and tested it out in my backyard about a week ago and it was great. I've been using a Lapco Bigshot for years on my 98 and my A5 and this barrel may be even better than that at half the price. My nitro tank had to be sent out to get hydro tested so I was forced to test with CO2 which killed my shot-to-shot accuracy but even still the barrel was performing very well. I got to borrow my friend's nitro tank for a few hours and that fixed the inconsistencies right up. As long as your velocity is consistent and you use decent paint, you can shoot one shot right on top of the last with this barrel.
This barrel is definitely a new favorite of mine. I didn't think I'd ever replace my bigshot but I may have finally found something better without going to some kind of crazy expensive barrel kit. Sadly, it seems that powerlyte has discontinued this barrel as their site doesn't list it and online stores don't seem to have it. It's a shame because it's an excellent barrel. If you need a new barrel and you find one cheap on ebay or something, grab it, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Dye Excel- Close to the same, but I like the finish and looks of PL better...PL barrel also quieter, but accuracy was about the same.
Piranha Evo with FBM Choke Chain feedneck and wave trigger, Powerlyte Speedline, Shocktech Supafly bolt, Evil Valve Kit w/VL valve stem; NO LEAKS!, 32 degrees springs, Twisted Volumizer, CCM reg, Polished Hammer (did it myself; dremel owns) Custom Products rail and On/Off with a Crossfire 45/3000 tank. Oh, and the revvy, of course. 800 shots per fill, 210 psi for 300 fps.
I'd say pretty much anything... I used VERY cheap paint and it shot very accurately. Then again, I used Draxxus Midnights the next day and it shot even better. Anything works, but higher quality paint will result in higher accuracy.
Fits well unlike some...read review
I picked up this gun on eBay for 20 shipped. I'm pretty sure I just got lucky and nobody saw it. The barrel comes in a simple, plastic bag with a Powerlyte tag at the top. Needless to say, it looks MUCH better in real life. Trust me.
I slid a barrel O-ring on it (doesn't come with one...meh) and put it on my Evo. It fit perfect, and the anno was a perfect match. Some black anno's are different shades, but the PL black is nearly the same. I was surprised when it fit so perfectly; I'd tied other specifically Spyder-threaded barrels and they wouldn't fit at all, but the Speedline went on like butter. It felt like threading the stock barrel onto a Piranha...Piranha stock barrels perfectly match their own thread, if you haven't ever really used the stock and don't know what I'm talking about.
Accuracy: Surprisingly for a one-piece this barrel is really accurate...It can definitely put ball on top of ball with more expensive paint, and can get about a 3-inch shot radius at thirty feet with VERY cheap paint.
Looks: Much nicer when you hold it / put it on your gun. The milling really fits in with Piranha milling, and other guns as well.
Cleaning: Easy to shoot through breaks, and if you do have to put a squeegee through it, the porting (unlike Freak barrels) will clean itself out with the next shot.
Volume: Very quiet. Surprisingly, it was quieter than the J&J ceramic, which has TONS of porting up the sides. However, the 32 Degrees Whisper was much quieter, while the Powerlyte makes up for this in its superior performance.
Definitely a very nice barrel for the price. Accurate, Quiet, Consistant, and Easy to clean. If you're running a Piranha, the milling is almost a perfect match. Can use a wide variety of paint, from high quality to low, so if you're noob and cheap, or even pro and have deep pockets, go for the Speedline. Also if you've got the money, check out the PL Scepter. Great prices on that at www.hotshotpaintball.com 7 Insert kit for 150. Awesome, really.
AGD ULE RT PRO (all black)
x-valve with ULT
powerlyte one peice
nitro duck 68/4500
any paintballs that are smaller than a .688 bore
Cannot deal with larger sized paint.
Does not come with a barrel O-ring!
For $50 I had no idea what to expect from a one peice barrel. But this powerlyte one peice speedline barrel amazed me.
Accuracy: I found that this barrel can litterally put one ball ontop of the other. However, the only time I found that the accuracy was not good was with a large bore sized paintball.
Noise: Even with this barrel's supreme accuracy, it is surprisingly quiet. It is obviously not the quietest barel out there, but trust me, it will act as a silencer.
Self Cleaning: The first time I played with this barrel I was amazed by it's accuracy, but then towards the end of the day I started thinkning that it was an average barrel. At the end of the day I was noticing that 1/10 paintballs were curving and the others were shooting fine. I was a little dissappointed, but then i took my barrel of my gun to realize that I had a broken ball in barrel. That's right the powerlyte barrel is so good at self cleaning that I was unable to notice it. Now how awesome is that?
Looks: Not all too bad, the barrel looks better in real life.
Paint: The only paint I do not suggest using for this barrel is large bore sized paint or really cheap/old paint. Usually the cheap paint I see tends to have ripplpes and bumps all over it. IMO these increase the paintballs bore size. In summary, do not use large bore sized paintballs with this barerl, the barrle with break abotu 1/200 large bore sized paintballs.
Even though I have the money, I feel this barrel is "good enough."
If only powerlyte made this barrel in a .692 bore size. Then it would probably be the only barrel that any one with a open bolt marker would need, especially for $50.
But then again it is only a $50 barrel, and it performs like $100 barrels.
Go check it out: http://powerlyte.com
