The Flatline Barrel System is the first barrel to put back spin on paintballs. It not only increases accuracy and distance, but it also has a flat trajectory.
Product Availability
The Tippmann Custom 98 Flatline Barrel is newer, so it should be commonly available, both new and used.

Something small bore
Strengths: Distance is insane
Weaknesses: Curves if not perpendicular to the ground
Review: I didnt really like the performance of this barrel accuracy wise. If you held the barrel so that it is tilted the balls can curve dramatically, which can be good to shoot around bunkers. The distance was insane and it helps you tuck your opponents so that you can make a long move from way back. The mounting system is kind of annoying. You have to tighten the barrel in a clamp and calibrate it every time you use it. It also can get offset and you have to recalibrate. Cleaning is also hard if you ge a ball on the barrel, you cant simply run a jerk squeegee through the barrel and replace it like with most barrels. but with the drop down feed tube you can clean it out without removing it, which is a plus.
Conclusion: It shoots far and around bunkers, but thats it. keeping the marker parallel to the ground and straight up was too much of a hassle and Its really not worth the money unless you really need to make long shots and can focus on keeping the marker steady

Strengths: can be very accurate
Weaknesses: if anything is a little off it can be screwed up
Review: It is really nice and i reccomend it totally but make sure that you have some time after you buy it and when you play to test and fine tune how it shoots. Make sure you have lots of paint and co2. If co2 not full it will screw up your results.
Conclusion: I completly recommend this product to everyone with a Tippmann 98 or 98 custom

It is very picky about brands but not quality. I use bigball. Zap also works well.
Strengths: Incredible range, good accuracy, looks cool

Weaknesses: The price is a little high, loud
Review: I have not used many other high-end barrels but the ones I have seen cant compare with the flatline. The range is amazing. The first time I played with my friends they underestimated how far it could shoot so I was able to hit them while they were out in the open. Having the ability to shoot people before they can shoot you is great. The barrels accuracy is pretty good but tends to drop off as the ball gets farther away. The barrel shroud makes the gun look cool and the sights actually work. Some people say that it chops paint but mine never has and even if it did you can easily clean it by pushing a squeegee through the ball receiver. (No disassembly) Some people complain that instillation is difficult. I am not sure how they came up with this because it can be easily done in a few minuets. Anyone that says this is a terrible barrel probably hasn’t installed it correctly or did not adjust it.
Conclusion: The flatline is one of the best barrels for the 98c, especially if you play woodsball. Even though it cost a lot I would say that this is worth the price and I recommend it for all 98 custom owners.

Strengths: Accuracy, Distance, Looks
Weaknesses: You have to keep the barrel clean and get the velocity just right.
Review: Overall, the Flatline Barrel System is the flat out best barrel on the market. It outshoots all other barrels and looks great doing it. The accuracy of your marker is dependant on keeping the barrel clean and adjusting the velocity to the right specifications. If you are a speedball player or have a gun that shoots over 15 bps, I wouldn't recommend getting the Flatline. If you are a woodsballer or just like sniping, this is the barrel for you!

There are some things you need to know before you get out on the field. First, you need the right paint. I would recommend Marballizer, Big Ball, or RPS Premium. You also need to adjust the barrel to the left or right to keep the ball flying straight. This may seem like to much work for just a barrel, but trust me, its worth it!! Basically, if you have a 98 Custom or an A-5, get the Flatline.

- Strengths:
1. Distance/Range is unparalleled in the world of paintball today.
2. Accuracy is outstanding with right specifications ( RECOMMENDED: a barrel extension adds to the already great accuracy of this barrel).
3. Looks better than pretty much any other barrel on the market.

- Weaknesses:
1. Keeping the barrel clean is key to the accuracy and range of the Flatline. Every once and a while you should take the barrel out of the shroud and clean.
2. Getting the velocity right can sometimes be a tricky thing. Overall this isn't really that big of a problem.
3. When its windy, the Flatline performs quite poorly. I would recommend switching to a back up barrel when their is to much wind.
4. This barrel is LOUD. Its not really that big of a deal to me because I'm not the sniping type, but to some people this is a key weakness.

There are other more expensive technological barrels out there, but the Flatline out performs them all. It is a one of a kind barrel. Quite possibly one of the greatest inventions since the wheel, the Flatline Barrel System out performs, out shoots, and out weighs the competition.
Conclusion: Flatlines don't chop balls, stupid fools with Flatlines do.

Review: ...Ok..Those people that complain about the flatline making the Marker way too heavy..You people are straight SISSIES, im only 13 and i have held and moved with this gone for over 2 hours and have felt no pain or anything like that..And the people that are complaining about it not shooting right, if you would read the instructions it strictly says you must adjust the barrel in order for it to shoot "perfect"..as for my flatline, mine shoots fine and dandy because i adjust it to perfection unlike those lazy people out there who dont even try to turn down the velocity
Conclusion: I recommend that woodsball players SHOULD buy this barrel, it is terrific for sniping and even close conflicts ( 15-10 feet battles ) so im not sayin this gun is perfect for all, but for me and surely others

Review: The Tippmann 98 Custom its self is a great gun with all the addons. And the Tippmann 98 Custom Flatline only makes things better. It's range is INCREADABLE. It's as Tippmann advertises 50% more acuracy and range. It's one weakness is that it's quite loud. But for being sniper, you just can't settle for a better barrel, you gota go Flatline!
Conclusion: If you have a Tippmann 98 Custom. The only thing I have to say to you is to get it!

Review: Well, before i got me cocker i felt that i should upgrade my m98 so i bought the all so famous flatline barrel system. It was not as good as i suspected but o well, it was pretty good, long range, accurate, pretty kool. But it was high mantnence and it chopped alot, if you prefer speed ball don't buy it. It's heavy and long.
Conclusion: Buy this barrel if you want range and accuracy in one Hard 2 assemble package lol

I used year old $40 a case paint on a cold day with little air and chopped one.
Strengths: Distance, lateral accuracy, looks cool
Weaknesses: If barrell installed too quick and its crokked it will swerve off
Review: The plastic cover was warped on mine but affected nothing.

Hassle at first to put one if you never taken gun apart in a while

Slows ball down 5 fps ( who notices that in a game?)

The effect of it floating is not true because you turn velocity down b/c ur flight path is shorter and makes u think its shooting too fast, so put it up just a tad.

Most tragets in a game will be at a ditance of 50 feet in a woods game. Since the flatline is consistant to how far it shoots all u need to worry about is windage ( side to side movement).

You will get your moneys worth if u install it right and use it right
Conclusion: HOW GOOD U ARE IS BASED ON
55% Players Skill and his ability to sneak up on enemys or evade enemys
25% Risk taking ( can get you killed or get kills)
15% Equipment : gun, hopper, barrell, camo in woods game, paint
05% God's willingness to bless you that day, (Luck)

This gun will make you 10 % better atleast

Review: I bought the flatline because it seemed really cool and the other guys liked theirs. After about 3 days of using it, I began to think I made a bad choice. The backspin is cool but the flatline does not offer very good accuracy. Also, If something were to happen to the barrel end that goes into the adapter, it can really mess things up. A friend dropped it and I had to forcefully put the flatline barrel into the adapter every time after that. Once I realized the flatline had poor accuracy and a friends 30 dollar barrel was more accurate, I began to look for someone who was interested in buying it. About a week after that, everyone else realized the poor accuracy. Get somethign else.
Conclusion: I recommend buying a Boomstick or an Ultralite. 100 dollars for a barrel that gives you flatter projectory but has less accuracy then a 30 dollar barrel is in my opinion not worth the money. I'm going to give it a 3 because the barrel isn't all crap, the flat projectory is cool for a while but you should really get a boomstick or ultralite for that money.

Review: WOW! i bought this barell for 80$ on ebay and it when i got it in the mail i installed it and shot it. its great. Imy backyard is 225 feet and i shot 30 balls at a cardboard box and 27 hit! (my poor accuracy!) buy this barell dispite the price. it is WILL worth it in the long run. the people that hate this barell are the people that cant afford it so instead of being happy, they take there anger out on the fact they cant get such a tight barell!
Conclusion: Great barell, great range, great accuracy. I reccomend buying a red dot sight also.
