There are plenty of bolts for the Ion and this one is no slouch. One of the first things you will notice is that this bolt is extremely light. I weighed it in the shop and it was just over 10.5 grams. I had reservations about the bolt being able to survive the speeds I was seeking from my gun. However, I was shooting 28 bps with no problems. I took the gun apart after firing it to clean and noticed that one of the seals on the inside of the firing chamber had come off and that the lower of the two rear bolt seals had been shot out of the gun. I plan on calling NDZ to see if they have experienced similar issues.
I wanted to update this as I have been using for some time now. I have found out what the problem with the seal is, lubrication. I had not put enough lube on the interior seal which was causing it to roll off. With proper lubrication, it works GREAT! Just thought I should update for interested folks.
Conclusion:
I think this is a very good bolt for the gun. It has a lot of the design features you would expect in a high end bolt. The weight is good, it has good airflow and it has two rear bolt seals for better efficiency. You will not be disappointed when you buy this bolt.
