I have used the cheap field jt masks. They were not very flexible and fogged up very fast. Also, the field ones kept falling down. This one does not fog up very easily but i have a spray for that. And it stays on my head great. Also, it is flexible at the bottom for more comfort
Marker Setup:
Spyder Sonix
Strengths:
It stays on tight.
It wont fog up if you get the special spray for it. (JT Majik i think)
It looks pimp. (Kinda like Darth Vader)
Paintballs bounce off of the bottom.
Weaknesses:
Almost too tight.
The lenses are hard to take out.
The little adjuster things on the side of the mask itself arent very sturdy so it is hard to put on. But once its on, it stays on
Conclusion:
Its cheap
It looks cool
Good for the money
Paintballs bounce off the bottom
JT Flex-7, Diablo Skull, Scott Avenger, Scott Low Profile, and a few other cheaper masks that i can't remember the name of.....?
Marker Setup:
Nobodys business, if you see me on the field i use a pirahna G3, but my upgrades are my secret...sorry!
Strengths:
Well what's good about all masks? They protect your melon from paintballs. This mask will do just that, it has ear protection (not the greatest but better than some more expensive jobs), single lens it will protect your eyes on most low speed fields (under 300fps), lots of foam for comfort (it's a bit scratchy but you don't notice that when you get goin', unless you're a baby face), the field of view is alright (like most masks), it looks trick (nice mask), it's flexible lowers make movement a breeze, and it doesn't cost a fortune, and all masks must pass a safety regulation which this does, and exceeds it. Now you all say but it's Brass Eagle....DO YOUR HOMEWORK....Brass Eagle is actually Daisy Airguns, and did you also notice that the Flex-7 and this mask look alike, that's because B.E. hired JT USA to make the mask for them. This is a JT USA X-Fire, just made for Brass Eagle. Now you say "No it can't be, How can they sell it so cheap?" Big business do this all the time it's called LOW END PRODUCTION COST, I have to hand it to brass eagle, they're cornering a market with the regular guy that want paintball gear...HATS OFF TO THEM!
Weaknesses:
Yes there are a few things...
1- the single lens....I hate single lens, but what can you do(maybe one day they will give the option of a single lens and a thermal lens)
2-they did skimp on the foam (not where the foam goes but the quality of the foam could be better)
3-the field of view could be better, but it's not a killer, some more expensive masks have less
4-should have added a top strap to tighten down the hatches, but you can add one yourself for no cost at all.
Conclusion:
It's a good mask, safe, made by a respected company, passes all saftey regulations and is backed by a company that has been in business for well past 25 year (daisy airguns).
I give B.E. a 10 on marketing but i can't give the product a 10, no product deserves a 10 other than my gun upgrades.....hehehe
JT Excellerator 4.0 & Viewloader Revolution 9 volt
Strengths:
Cheap $ and looks good
Weaknesses:
Ear pads fell off out of the package, fogged up quickly, foam around goggles was rather scratchy (like using paper towels on your butt rather than toilet paper).
Conclusion:
I don't know what I was expecting for the price, but as the saying goes..."you get what you pay for". If you want a mask that looks high dollar but performs like a $20 piece of junk, than this mask is for you. I did not follow the advice given to newbies...if you are going to skimp, don't skimp on your mask. 'Nuff said.
