The new 2007 Cranium shell has been redesigned from the ground up to turn your Halo into a dream hopper. The loose, threaded plates, that are so commonly lost, have been replaced with threaded metal inserts that are molded into the body of the shell. The new Cranium now allows complete vertical disassembly of the upper AND lower halves of the shell. An innovative plate design eliminates all horizontal screws and creates a much stronger shell body.
The new rear back plate allows access to the circuit board with the removal of a single screw while the shell remains assembled. The new lid features a stronger connecting arm and allows you to choose between a standard, snap style closure or magnetic. The new Craniums are available soon in Black, Blue and Red with matching camo bottoms.
The Powerlyte Cranium Halo Shells 2007 is newer, so it should be commonly available, both new and used.
This shell is hard as rock it has a fast replacement bord door, speed field strip you virtually dissasamble it on the field in seconds clean it and put it back with a single screw driver
I broke my halo neck on a fall and replace it with this shell it feals sturdy solid and very easy to upgrade clean your hoper and I love the magnetic lid

As you know if you read my suicide review the POS cracked in 3 places before I played with it on its first full day. The cracks on the top didn't go all the way through yet so I've been using the hybrid top on my first generation Powerlyte bottom. When the cracks deepened and the entire front screw housing broke away from the top I wanted to get another shell. I did have the full Powerlyte shell but they only came in all black and I really liked the blue top on black bottom. After checking out someones review on pbnation that had a bunch of really good pics showing all the different pieces I decided to give the 07 a shot. Before I ordered I contacted Powerlyte and asked them if it was possible to buy one with a 2 tone color cause all of their 2 tones were only with the camo colors and I don't care much for them. The response I got was that they'd be happy to, just buy a black shell and put in the comments that you want a blue top. That was cool cause if you think about it, now they're sitting on a black top with blue body and since their site doesn't offer custom color choices it'll be harder to sell that.
When it arrived I was surprised how easy it was to install everything. When I was looking at the pics I was only paying attention to the 3 main piece design, not how it was put together. It has the standard 3 top screws like all the other shells like these but only takes 2 screws in the bottom to get to the guts.
Everything is dropped in from the top. You almost have to try on purpose to pinch a wire with these.
There are no sharp edges inside like the hybrid and all nuts are fixed in place. No more worrying about loosing a nut anymore.
It was a bit tricky to get the board to fit in the board housing cause the bottom of the board would want to stick up a bit so I couldn't get it together at first. Once I figured out to angle the housing before pressing together it only takes a few seconds now.
Except for the battery door, and the board housing, the entire bottom is seamless. This greatly adds to the strength especially the feedneck. I can already tell it's much stronger then the first Powerlyte, Suicide, and stock shells. I'd bet anything it's stronger then the Warrior as well since it's just like the hybrid and first Powerlyte. Only bad thing about it being 1 piece is that the boost or any other battery that requires you to separate the shell to get it to fit, won't fit in these. At least it won't fit in the standard way of separating the shell. It may be able to be dropped in from above like the rest of the components but I can't test that until my boost gets back. (stopped charging after a whole 2 charges)
My Bone fits it fine though.
(Edit: Boost fits fine droped in from above)
My only complaint about this shell is the new lid and mouth. It comes with magnets to keep it closed but the bottom magnets have plastic around them and I already see stress marks from the top magnets hitting the plastic instead of the bottom magnets. I can tell that the plastic around the bottom magnets will eventually break off so I'm not sure how long they will last. It does have a small grove in part of the lip and small tongue on the lid so it will still stay closed even without the magnets.
Speedfeeds won't fit the new mouth without a mod. It's too tall and has no lip to snap them on with. I had to dremmel the speedfeed slightly to fit it around the magnets cause they are placed close to the lip. I can now get it to fit but it wont stay on without something like glue or a lot of double sided tape. Since I have a backup halo with a lid for rainy days, I'm going to use superglue gel to keep it on.
(Edit: The top cracked next to the side screws. My email was responded to in less then a full day. They are shipping me a new top for free. Best customer service I've had in pb.)
These are hands down the best shells made for halo/empires yet. When the suicide first came out it was a vast improvement over the stock design. (except for their strength) Now the 07 Powerlytes are a vast improvement over the hybrids and hybrid like shells. I'm going to recommend these to everyone that needs a new shell. Can only give a 9 though cause of the lid and mouth. They should of kept it the same as the first Powerlyte shells
