Unequaled quality, meticulous engineering and impeccable design are just a few of the reasons why Proto is the first name in paintball. We?ve advanced the new Proto Matrix 8 to the next level. Wow, Love this gun! Fast, no kick and accurate! Beautiful!
I purchased this gun new. Right out of the box the gun was dead on within a range of 283 to 287 fps. Fast, light, and confortable. I thought the Karni was fast this is faster. And, not to bad mouth the Karni, but the PM8 is definitely (so far) less finicky. I have only used it twice, but both times was all day with no flaws, no hiccups, and no complaints! Unless something changes this gun is a winner in my book!
Ok starting chopping some balls. The shop I bought it from uses this gun as their team gun so they were very familiar with it. After about 5 or 6 cases, if you do happen to chop a ball occasionally, you may want to adjust the LPR down by maybe 1/2 a turn. I did that and shot three cases with not a single chop after that no shoot down either. Just a heads up if needed.
Definitely Recommend !!!

angels, other PM's and DM's. favored this one for the price.
Proto Matrix 8
VERY light (less than my friends 08 ego), fast, accurate, little kick
proto/DYE changed the threading for the hyper 3. cant change regs without an adapter
i had been looking for a new marker for awhile and had started researching the proto matrix 8. it seemed like it was the erfect marker since it was light, fast, accurate without much kick without spending a lot of money. i got home with the gun after purchasing it from a new by pro shop and gassed it up and shoot some paint. i was deffniaatly impresse with the accuracy of the marker, as well as the very quiet sound it made, which is plus for me. i went through a hopper pretty fast (emptied my pulse in probably 10 ish seconds) and was very satisfied with the pink paint covering the tree i had shot. i shot another hopper just for good measure and put it away until i went reballing. which is where my problems started. apperently, this gun does NOT work very well with reballs, so DO NOT shoot many reballs with this marker. over all, i was very impressed with this marker, and would deffniatly recommend it to anyone.
I would deffniatly buy this marker. it is a great gat with a great company backing it up. a 10/10 over all.
stock on/off (I just don't like them)
clear eye plate
Price - coming in at about 750 the price for what you get with the PM8 is the best in it's class for price to performance.
Frame - Stock UL frame, so it'll take any UL frame boards, I suggest the Virtue board.
Lite - I weighed mine on a cooking scale and it came in with a CP on/off (a tiny bit heavier then the stock one), reg, stock barrel and stock board with a battery came in a 2.1 lbs so with the stock on off I'm guessing it's be just a hair over 2 lbs
Fast - the stock board/frame being UL makes it a fast marker that you can adjust Max ROF and 4 different firing options with the 2 different adjustment screws making it easy to adjust to what you want in a trigger
Stock Boards - to me the stock trigger/switch seemed SUPER heavy compaired to my PM6's even with a CP trigger it still felt way to heavy, I switched to a Virtue with 20G switch to make it feel smooth I added the spring back in to make it feel like I'm pulling a trigger.
Stock on/off - I just don't like the stock on/off so I went a head and swapped it out for a CP, more personal preference, the stock one isn't nice for larger fingers in my opinion.
Eye Ribbons - to use the eye ribbons with an aftermarket board you need an eye adaptor. the ribbons brake pretty easy on them and you have to dremel the frame out to get wired eyes to fit.
I've had a run of problems with bolt stick and some tiny LPR issues with my PM8. I also broke the eye ribbons and wanted to switch to wired eyes but there is almost no room for them. I dremeled the frame and they work now but it's still a pain in the but with the lack of room to fit all the wires and such.
awesome marker for the price I love my PM8. If it had wired eyes and a better stock switch I'd easily give it a 9.5
PMR--- not comparable
PM6-- much heavier...
PM7---- almost the same if you add a UL frame,
ION--- good marker for price, but still not comparable
PE 68/45 tank
really fast hopper.... halo/realoader/magna/JRNY/ vlocity
Really high quality marker...
Not available everywhere yet
Feedneck... not bad, but didn't grip my Vlocity jr.
the PM8 is really comfortable, the new STOCK UL FRAME makes a huge amount of difference in comfortability
another thing is that the barrel is really really light.. i think i heard somewhere it is even lighter than the dye UL barrel, but not really sure about this...
it has a really nice look to it... milling and the shape of the UL frame give it a very nice look
the LED on the top of the UL frame is really nice to since it'll let you know the status of your gun without taking your eyes off the game
used it on sunday, and it was really nice to use, especially in the snake were it was extremely comfortable to use. really fast, as you would expect, gave me no problem what so ever...
DYE quality at a good price, small problem with the feedneck is nothing really compared to what the gun gave...
