Paintball
Experience:
More than 5 years
Marker Setup: -DP G3
-TechT L7
Strengths: -Design to allow Easy Maintenance
-Feed Neck
-Weight
Weaknesses: -Reliability
Review: I have been trying to use the DP G3 for nearly a year. I picked this gun because I wanted a light, easy maintenance gun. From the reviews here and elsewhere this seemed like a dream come true. For the particular G3 I have, this is not true.

Just for your reference, when I first got the gun I ordered the replacement regulator parts from Dangerous Power - I have never used the gun before I installed the new regulator parts. Once the new regulator was installed, I began to use the gun.

From the very beginning I was having trouble with bolt stick. (Pull the trigger, hear the solenoid click, but the bolt never cycles...) I called DP technical support, and they worked through my problem without much success. (Regulator adjustment, DIP-switches to adjust solenoid dwell.) In the end, moving the solenoid dwell to 18 msec kind of solved the problem. I still had severe first shot drop off. I mean severe - many times the first shot just ploops out the barrel and only goes about 10 feet.

They recommended I get DOW 55 lubricant (with an o-ring swelling agent) to fix the problem. I did, and $25+$5 in shipping I get the magical lubricant, and it does make a difference. However, I still have trouble getting the gun to cycle after I first gas up.

I reached out to TechT L7 bolt for help, hoping a lower bolt weight will cycle through. It was, at least physiologically, an improvement. Less often will the bolt stick during play.

Even with the new bolt, I haven't enjoyed playing paintball over the last year. I stopped playing for over a month because of my problems - kind of a break to give it all a rest. When I got my gun out yesterday to play, I put in a fresh new 9V. (I stored the gun w/o battery). The gun refused to cycle. I worked a bit on the gun, but then realized I couldn't hear the gentle click from the solenoid. I have a $50 parts kit for the G3, so I tested the extra solenoid in that system, still no click. The eyes are working, as when I put in a paintball I get a solid light on the control board. So, I am guessing the control board broke while the gun sitting in its foam case in my closet for a month... I contacted technical support, but it is the weekend, so I'll have to wait for a response to see what could have gone wrong.

With all the gassing-and un-gassing, the o-ring on the gas-lever (Part #54 in the manual - Part#20-F01590-000-PFUS0A) broke. So I went to my trust $50 parts kit, and lo and behold, that o-ring is not included. WHAT!!!! Please let me know in the comments below if any of you experienced folks have recommendations on where I can get this o-ring.

So, in short, perhaps I have a lemon. It seems there are very few bad reviews in thsi forum, and the few bad reviews here seem to be automatically "The accuracy of this review is disputed". To most of the disputers' credit, most of the negative review were poorly written.

So, am I a stupid-user, do I have a lemon, or is the G3 unreliable?
Conclusion: I regret my purchase greatly.

Review: Ok this gun is decent... Its wonderful for the Recball and not serious player but for someone who wants to play tournaments and plays a lot i say save up your dough and get something that doesnt need so many upgrades. The reg is terrible, it take forever to break in, it doesnt even come with freaking PSP 3 shot! even the SLG comes with that!! The barrel breaks paint and puts wierd spins on it
Conclusion: Its ok, doesn't live up to hype

Upgrades:
Maybe new board, bolt or barrel if you are serious about paintball.
Strengths: Price, easy maintenance, size and weight, 14 inch barrel
Weaknesses: Stock board has no PSP3shot, not many upgrades, but, not many are necessary.
Review: Well, I wanted to jump off the Tippmann bandwagon, so I got this. 1.8 pounds, 14 inch barrel, great ASA and feed neck, I was sold. I got this in the mail with 500 GXG zballz. I immediately got my DXS 48/45 tank out, airred up and started rippin' reballs. My friend wanted me to try his Invert Halo Too on it. Bad decision. It jammed my G3 with about 400psi left in the tank, the bolt was stuck forward but it didn't leak all the air out the bolt. After shooting it some more with reballs, no more jams. Anyhow, this gun is so smooth when shooting and so easy to clean the bolt. Make sure there's no air in the reg, take an allen key and pull off the back cap. Carefully slide the bolt out, clean off the excess oil, and put some more on the o-rings. This gun feels perfect with my 48ci stubby tank.
Conclusion: If you have $300 dollars, save yourself the hassle, just get this. Ease of maintanence, a smooth shot, and a beautiful, light body make this the best choice. Pair it up with a carbon fiber tank and mid range hopper and you're set to rip. 9 of 10 because of the bolt stick that wasn't entirely the guns fault.

Strengths: Easy to clean

Review: I had this gun for a year now. It has treated me well some days and it brole down on me on other days. One day i was playing and i started to hear a pinging noise but i kept playing till it stopped. its sounded like metal on metal then there was insain bolt stick. I took it apart and changesd all the orings and relubed it with marmalade. i went to shoot it and the pinging was gone but there was still bolt stick. then i inspected all the orings and cleaned it off and elubed it again but only with dye lube. I test shot it and it worked once more. so I found out that it doesn't like my marmalade. This gun has a mind of its own. if it want to break down then it breaks down. if it wants to work it works. so i had my fair share of problems. it stil was a great gun. alll you have to do i take care of it and it will take care of you. DP has fixed most of the problems now since i bought mine before they fixed some of the problems now it is a super kick ass gun. I like the asa and the feedneck.. there is really nothing else I can say. That story of my problem was the only problem i had with it and I dont want it to change your mind if you are deciding to get it. all you have to do is when you are using it check the backcap everso often so it doesnt shoot off. overall this was a great buy for 300.
Conclusion: Just get this gun!!!!!!!!! thats all i have to say. i gave it a 9 cause of that one problem i had with it. and the defective reg isnt a problem anymore so dont worry about it

Weaknesses: Efficiency
Review: Well, I got the g3 barelly used in the orange color. The finish is amazing! Its like its glowing when the light shines on it!

The only real downside is the efficiency, which isnt great but isnt bad either. The new bolt made a big difference! I'd say i get around 1000-1200 shots on a 68/45 with the techt bolt.

Everything works great on it,never had a problem so far! I just recently got the techt l7 bolt engine for it which is great, it has a tooless unscrew knob, and weighs less than half the stock bolt does! When i put the new bolt in i noticed almost no kick,it was quieter, and increased efficiency a little bit.

The gun is not as accurate as my old pm7 but still shoots really accuratley. I am planning on getting a carbon fiber barrel sometime to reduce the weight even more ( although it weighs almost nothing already) and shoot larger paintballs.
Conclusion: All in all the g3 is an AMAZING marker for the price!!! If you are thinking about getting this marker, stop thinking and buy it! You wont regret it! I think this is one of the best markers out there for the price, I play with a bunch of guys with egos, dms, shockers, etc. and my gun keeps up with theirs at a fraction of the cost!

Review: This gun is amazing.
When I first saw this gun I thought it looked great, and when I picked it up I was even more surprised. The thing is so damn light! It feels great also. Immediately after purchasing, I set it to 25 BPS. Not one ball chopped.
Though, I was a bit disappointed when I realized it didn't have a 3 shot :s
Kinda sucks paying extra cash after you bought a 300 dollar gun, but with the APE board it's a flawless gun.
The stock barrel has a large bore, so I was a bit worried about paint chopping eventually, so I got the techpb barrel.
The trigger has a bit too much side play, and you can only adjust it up to a certain point.
Conclusion: Buy this gun!!! Best marker $300 can buy!

Review: Out of the box, the gun works great. The reg is consistent, barrel isn't too bad, and the stock board has the basic settings. After i played my first game with it, The stock eyes were totally out of whack. The wires were bent and kinked, and the gun really didn't perform well without the eyes on. Other than that the gun is amazing, and it looks decent too.
Conclusion: Buy it! It isn't expensive, and it works great. Good job, DP!

Review: I was so exited to get this gun Ive heard nothing but good about it and then finally some kid came to the field one day with the gun and i watched a few rounds of the G3 in action I i said to my self i had to have it. When i bought the gun i headed strait to the paintball field, Its a very good looking gun to add. It just did nothing but kick ass. It was fast, quiet, and very slick. And for only about $300 you will say screw the Ego and the Geo with a price comparison with the G3 ($300 - $1400) why spent an extra $1000 or so when you can buy a marker with the same performance.
Conclusion: I would reccomend this gun to ANYONE even begginers because of its price and performance.

Review: I used to have a upgraded spyder but one day at the field it died =( Then i was looking for a new gun and i found the g3. I was looking at the mini untill i read some reviews sayin they were bad so i got the g3.

pros: light fast tight good looking( i got the black) very air effiecient ( i got about 650 shots off a 48/3000 my throttle isnt in yet. awsome asa and great feedneck. cheap.

cons: grips are hard to put on.

they first time i aired it up at the field it worked perfect. i chronoed it then i walked on the field and tried to shoot a few. it didnt work so i sat out that game and took it apart. i found out that the solenoid wasnt working. so i went to punt the trigger frame back on and i hearrd a wooshy noise from the reg and it started working. and i played the whole day without any probs.
Conclusion: Great gun for the price $300 I would recamend the g3 to anyone that wants a gun that is light and easy to use and matenance.

Review: Ive put about 10 or so cases through this gun so far and its deadly, especially being only $299. Ive have broken 3 paintballs in all the shooting Ive done and thats using te cheapest field paint there was and the breaks were at the end of the barrel. with the upgrade board and the bolt Ive got it to 36bps, a few times Ive unloaded full rotors worth on full auto with no breaks. the stock barrel is good, shoots straight, my friends got a couple tippmanns at the same time as me and still havnt hit me yet, there stock setups just arent accurate enough(or they arent). in the beggining. i had some technical difficulties, but that is due to my own newbieness. Ive figured everything about the gun out and works like a charm
Conclusion: the G3 is well worth alot more than 299 in my eyes
