Review:
Since I was getting an E-grip, I knew I needed a cyclone upgrade and I found this one for $45. I thought at a price like that, why not? So, a week later, I got the parts and put it together. It fit well, but you needed a little common sense and know-how since it didn't come with directions and you needed to reuse some old parts. After assembly, I took the gun out (in the cold) and fired at 13bps, then 15, then 20, and then 30. 30bps turned my paintball gun into a shotgun, 20 bps worked just fine. I haven't tried 25 bps just yet, but it may work. (It might be the fact I'm running the stock hammer though and not the zero kick hammer.)
Conclusion:
I am very happy with this upgrade. Without a doubt raised my max bps, good solid parts, cheap, great for the machine gunner on a budget.
Axle not up to spec
Rod/Ratchet pin does not fit securely
Review:
Installation took almost an hour (mostly lubing it up). I did notice that the pin used for the ratchet/rod linkage did not fit securely - it fell out without the cyclone's bottom cover in place.
The real problem is the fact that the soft paddles can rotate independently from one another around the axle. This is a MAJOR problem, since it causes missfeeds which can result in ball breaks in the cyclone - this can be a quick end to a good game!
After about three months of usage (and thus three big games), I had my first ball jam/break. Three balls tried to enter the marker simultniously, resulting in one breaking, and two jamming the cyclone. The paddles had to be removed to clear the jam.
I have been in contact with RAP4, who appears to be aware of the problem, but unable to find a solution for it.
Conclusion:
Get more opinions before buying the RAP4 complete cyclone upgrade. Perhaps investigate alternate products. I am giving this a low rating due to the lack of support from RAP4. I have had issues with my A5 as well, and within three weeks of contacting Tippmann, I had replacement parts in my hand - international shipping and all! That is how it should be done, especially if you KNOW about a problem.
I got this upgrade to go along with my APE Ramage E-grip so my Cyclone would be able to cycle properly.
The rachet is aluminium which is the sole purpose of the upgrade, and the paddles work fine, the vented piston cyclinder also works great.
Installation takes a while but its basically take out the old and replace with the new so its not very hard, just time consuming. I didn't realise there was an instruction video until several weeks after I'd installed it (I bought local so I never looked at the website).
It's expensive, but that may just be my weak New Zealand dollar against the U.S.
Conclusion:
Mine worked great since day one, does what it should and what its advertised to do.

Review:
On Christmas I was excited to see that I got the RAP4 cyclone upgrade kit because this was all I needed to fully upgrade my A-5. I installed it that night using thier video. Its real easy to install but the video was terrible. After trying to put it into the cyclone compartment I noticed that the ratchet pin did not stand straight up, it was at a slight angle. I figured it just need to be broken in and that it would straighten out later. The next day I played a small game, as I started to fire I realized nothing came out half the time. The sad thing is that I was using semi-auto and not full-auto. I looked in the cyclone and saw that it wasn't cycling at all. I pushed the pin manually and it cycled fine. I wasn't satisfied so I took it apart and looked at the cyclone and everything looked fine. I thought that maybe the spring guide in the vortex put to much pressure on the ratchet so I snipped off one ring and put the cyclone back together after oiling it. I then tested it on full-auto and the first 8 shots were fine but after that it quit cycling. Needless to say I sent RAP4 an email and tried calling them but without any luck. I began to ask around and found that alot of people have had problems with RAP4's cyclone upgrade and some of their aluminum powertubes. I guess thats what happens when their made in China.
Conclusion:
Don't buy this cyclone kit, it's not worth the money or trouble. Buy the Tech T upgrade kit because it works and they back up their products, unlike RAP4. Tech T is also made in America, so you know it's good.
