Stock Ion with an SP Firebolt, SP 360 QEV and clamping feedneck.
Run CO2 with a coiled remote
Spyder Xtra
Strengths:
Good price (look on e-bay), easy to install and adjust, consistent
Weaknesses:
The 360 deg. swivel bottom can get annoying
Review:
I got this on e-bay ($15) about a year ago to use on my Spyder Xtra. Adding the regulator was a huge improvement for accuracy and efficiency, beacuse it is so consistent- usually only +/- 5 FPS using CO2!
I have had zero problems with it, unlike my Piranha DSR regulator that needs to be rebuilt every month, this one has only been cleaned once in the last year, after 15+ days of playing. It stands up to abuse- this is my loaner gun for my son's friends, who are not the most careful with it. The only annoying thing is the bottom section swivels 360 deg. freely. This makes installation easy, but if your hose is a little long, it can flop around and move side to side- feels like the reg is going to fall off!
Conclusion:
Great regulator for the price, just use the right length of hose so the bottom doesn't move around
I wouldn't suggest this regulator to anyone that's going to run an e- grip on their gun. This regulator has a real crappy recharge rate. I must of had my e-grip set at about 10 bps and the regulator was set at 375 psi and it zeroed out on me. Plus, like I said, the recharge rate is horrible. It drops too much when you shoot. Plus mine developed a leak after just testing out twice. I've heard two other people tell me that theirs started leaking after a few uses. I got mine for $37 new, so I'm thinking the guy didn't care what he could get for it, he just wanted to get rid of it. That's my take on it at least. However, if you're not using an e-grip then I guess it would be a decent reg for your stock gun.
Conclusion:
Buy it if you have a stock grip and plan on staying like that for a while, but toss it as soon as you upgrade to an e-grip
Ok well weaknesses hear we go...
Not the same as one shown on picture now!
Different Psi rating (Alot of companys are confused on the New style one) ive seen (300-750) and (400-800) but it works fine
Well i bought this gauge and oce i got it i thought it would be perfect for the Lp kit because i expected the one on the picture but after i saw it wasnt i Called the place knowing Tippmann only makes one regulator. telling them they gave me the wrong one, but they said its the only one that tippmann makes and it should work fine but it works less then fine its pretty bad if you use it with the Lp kit, so if you buy it make sure you dont use it on the Lp kit. Unless somebody can show me tippmann makes two. regulators well i really dont like it to much Im not to fond of the swivel bottom but it works for now i guess.
UPDATE'''
Ok well i take back most of what i Say about tis regulator it works Good. I was just being Dumb. But i would Still Perfer the Palmer Stablizer.
Conclusion:
Well its good i just dont recommend using it on an Lp kit buy a Palmer male Stablizer. You will be happier with that one but i guess if you want to use it with out a Lp kit go for it but i go for palmer all the Way. so im giving it a 8.5
Rating:
8 out of 10

Tippmann 98 custom
14" AA Barrel
Tippmann Techline Reg
Shocktech drop
Rva
Double Trigger
Empire Reloader
Strengths:
Consistency Improved greatly over stock. Velocity spikes are very low.
Light Weight.
Weaknesses:
Only has two slots for your fingers.
Review:
The reg installs very easily once you have a vertical adapter on your gun. Adjusting the reg is just a allen wrench turn away.
The reg makes your gun look much better and you can play much tighter.
Easy to hold onto.
The hose can be screwed into the reg only in one place but it swivels 360 degrees.
Conclusion:
I would recommend getting this reg if you don't have one. I found it easy to install and is easy to adjust with an allen wrench. Very good upgrade for your Tippmann.
this reg looks great on the 98 custom. pretty efficient.
Weaknesses:
it could be a little more efficient but nothing else to complain about.
Review:
overall a pretty good reg. tippmann should not have discontinued the chrome color. efficiency could be a little better. very cool looking reg. it is very easy to set and play around with. the reg has only two finger groves and I thought it should have at least four groves to accommodate the fingers for a more comfortable fit.
Conclusion:
it is a great starter reg. it a little expensive but it is again a great starter regulator.
